Cicero police seek help finding missing 15-year-old girl

Cicero, NY - Cicero police are asking the public to help them locate a 15-year-old girl who has been missing for nearly a week.

Kristen Rae Bates was last seen about 3:30 a.m. Jan. 25 in the Brewerton area.

Cicero police and Bates' father, David Bates Jr., say she could possibly be with 22-year-old Dale White Jr., who David Bates said his daughter has been dating since May.

In August, Kristen Bates ran away for 30 days, David Bates said. He said state troopers found his daughter at a house on U.S. Route 11 in Hastings.

In November, Kristen Bates ran away again, her father said. He said state troopers found her 37 days later at the house in Hastings.

Kristen Bates was in the ninth grade at North Syracuse Junior High School until she ran away in November. She attended Durgee Junior-High School in Baldwinsville for two days in January after she and her mother moved from Cicero to Baldwinsville.

David Bates Jr. said he was trying to get her placed on PINS (Persons in Need of Supervision) though the court system. A judge ordered Kristen Bates to go to Hillside Childrens Center on Jan. 22 because she was not going to school regularly and not obeying a court-imposed curfew, her father said.

After the judge ordered her to go to Hillside, Kristen Bates ran away from the courthouse, he father said.

"We thought she went outside to compose herself," David Bates Jr. said. "But she ran."

State troopers found her Jan. 24 at a home in Brewerton, David Bates said. Troopers returned Kristen Bates to her mother, but the girl ran away again the next morning, her father said.

Jennifer Bates reported her daughter missing on Jan. 25, according to her ex-husband.

"I’m definitely afraid for my daughter’s safety. I wonder every day if she’s going to be OK. I love her and I want her to come home and do the right thing," David Bates Jr. said.

Anyone who sees someone matching the description of Bates is asked to call Cicero police at 699-3677 ext. 11. A voice mail system likely will pick up. Police are asking callers to leave the location and phone number where they can be contacted. The voice mail will be checked on an hourly basis.
