Gabriel Johnson was last seen with his mother, 23-year-old Elizabeth Johnson, at a San Antonio park back on December 26th. Authorities say Johnson spent Dec. 22 to 27 at two motels in the city. Elizabeth Johnson purchased a bus ticket on December 27th and was alone when she boarded a bus bound for Florida.

Elizabeth Johnson was arrested in Miami Beach on Dec 30th after failing to appear for a custodial hearing in Phoenix. Johnson has refused to reveal where she left Gabriel and remains jailed.

Johnsons car a White 1995 Oldsmobile Delta 88 with Arizona license plate AGZ4214 was located on Jan 5th by the FBI and San Antonio police. The vehicle was parked at a Motel 6 at 7950 Interstate 35 South, near Interstate 35 and State Road 422

PHOENIX -- The mother of an 8-month-old Arizona boy missing for more than two months refused to go to court Tuesday, delaying the case.

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Timothy Ryan would have ruled on two motions had Elizabeth Johnson, 23, not refused to leave her Maricopa County jail cell.

Ryan rescheduled Tuesday's hearing for March 17, telling sheriff's deputies to "use any means necessary" to get her there. Ryan is expected to rule on a couple of procedural matters at the hearing, including designating the case as complex so attorneys have more time to argue their cases.

I have been in love with this baby from the moment I saw him. I have two little ones myself, this story makes you want to go home and hold your children so tight. I cannot imagine how a parent could be so bent on hurting the other parent that they would behave this way. My love and prayers are with this family. Everyone that is posting on here keep the mother in your prayers too. At this point it seems everyone is doing all they can to find this baby. Pray that God will clean up her black heart and make her realize what she has done and help find this beautiful baby boy. Many prayers and much love to the Johnson & McCreary families. i dont watch the news much because of the sad disturbing news that is always on it. But I have been fixated on this case. I pray that God is with this child's family and the babu himself. i pray that if he is being hidden that they are treating him well. I am praying every single day for the safe return of baby Gabriel. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about this beautiful little boy. I have two boys and the youngest is just a little older than Gabriel. I can not imagine what Logan is going through. Just know that you and your beautiful son are in my prayers. Logan, Hang in there. The world is with you and praying for you and little Gabriel. He is a beautiful little boy and the name Gabriel means, "God is my strength," and he really is. Smith was on Nancy Grace one night after she had visited Elizabeth. She said that Elizabeth said that she was worried about something that three people out of the country might do. That could mean Mexico.

Rain halts landfill search for Baby Gabriel

Rain on Thursday halted the excavation of an East Side landfill where officials have been searching this week for evidence in the disappearance of an Arizona infant.

“The excavation has been suspended for the day because of the inclement weather,” said San Antonio Police Department spokeswoman Sandy Gutierrez. “But we hope to resume Friday.”

Police Chief William McManus said at a news conference Tuesday that the landfill was targeted because it's tied to a trash bin at a hotel on San Pedro Avenue where Elizabeth Johnson, 23, claimed to have suffocated Gabriel Johnson, placed him in a diaper bag and disposed of his body.

Police continue to investigate a separate missing person case on the 9-month-old because Johnson also claimed she gave him to a couple in a San Antonio park.

Cops search San Antonio landfill for missing baby

SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio's police chief says officers are searching a landfill for evidence in the disappearance of an 8-month-old boy.

Chief William McManus said Tuesday that authorities "remain hopeful that Baby Gabriel is alive."

Gabriel Johnson was last seen with his 23-year-old mother, Elizabeth Johnson, in San Antonio on Dec. 26. The Arizona woman was arrested Dec. 30 in Florida and charged with kidnapping, child abuse and custodial interference.

Police turned to the landfill after the mother allegedly sent a text message to the father, saying their baby was dead. She later recanted.

McManus says police are excavating a section of the landfill believed to contain trash from a motel where Johnson was last seen with her baby.

McManus said Saturday the case was being treated as a homicide.

I remember the account by the baby- sitter in San Antonio saying that she was dressed to go to a club or something, although it was only 11am....Have they even started searching the land- fill yet? Evidence Shows Elizabeth Johnson Was Not Alone While On The Run

There is strong evidence Monday that at least for one night on the run, Elizabeth Johnson was not alone with her baby Gabriel. Tabor Morris is a pizza delivery driver at Papa John's. He doesn't remember all of the people he caters, but something about Elizabeth Johnson stood out.

“She was real skittish, she kept the door closed. I think she gave me a five or six dollar tip. Really nice lady. I think that’s why I pretty much remember her,” said Morris.She may have soon slipped his mind if not for the flier posted in the restaurant. He said he knew right away that the woman in the photo was the same woman at the Homegate Hotel. He produced a receipt to CBS5 from Dec. 21 with the name Elizabeth and her room number 150.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- New evidence that surfaced Sunday in the search for baby Gabriel shows there is a better chance that he may still be alive. It suggests it was Elizabeth Johnson's plan all along to adopt her baby away.

After talking to an adoption expert who helps the FBI in the world of underground adoptions, the McQueary family learned some startling connections.

The Homegate Hotel where Elizabeth stayed is well known in adoption circles. Agencies put girls up there for meetings with families and to complete paperwork.

“It just seems like it is a place that mothers go when they’re trying to give up their children,” said Lisa Peters.

The adoption expert, who didn't want to be identified, also had plenty to say about the San Antonio Six Flags.

“Often girls go to Six Flags to meet with the adoptive family. There’s a lot of people in and out there, and there’s also security there, and it’s a safe place for both the mother and the family to meet, often to bring the child, introduce the child to the family,” said Lisa Peters.

The adoption expert suggest that it is easier in Texas to terminate a father’s parental rights. Gabriel father’s parental rights are established in his home state, but he should establish his parental rights in Texas as well. I feel certain this has been explained to Gabriel’s father, but wanted to pass this info on as well. Gabriel’s father should have his parental rights jurisdiction transferred to a Texas Court, and there is a website in Texas, maybe nation wide, that a father can register on, in order to establish parental rights, and to not relinquish or terminate his rights. Police to search landfill for baby's body

San Antonio police plan to search a landfill for the body of a 9-month-old boy who vanished the day after Christmas.

Gabriel Johnson's disappearance now is being investigated as a homicide, rather than a missing person's case, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said Saturday at a news conference. He did not say what caused police to reclassify the case.

Gabriel's mother allegedly told the boy's father Logan McQueary of Tempe, Ariz., that she killed Gabriel, put him in a diaper bag and threw it in a San Antonio trash bin. She later told a television station she gave the boy to a couple at a San Antonio park.

Police said they planned to search San Antonio's Tessman Road landfill as soon as heavy rain let up..

"Hopefully nothing will turn up in the landfill," McManus said. "Hopefully we'll find him alive."

Father of missing baby comes to San Antonio - Gabriel

The father of Gabriel Johnson, who went missing last December, arrived in San Antonio on Friday night in an effort to find his 8-month-old son.

Logan McQueary and a cousin arrived at San Antonio International Airport around 9 p.m. from El Paso, where he met with private investigator Jay J. Armes.

McQueary and his family have created a “war room” that is papered with maps, information from Internet sources and even a psychic. With the information, McQueary has mapped out a route Elizabeth Johnson, the child's mother, took while in San Antonio, said Kelli McQueary, the father's aunt.

EL PASO, Texas -- Just moments after Tammi Smith was released from jail for allegedly conspiring to take custody of Gabriel Johnson away from his father, Logan McQueary, she lashed out at McQueary for waiting so long to join the search for his son.

McQueary set out this week for San Antonio, the last place Gabriel was seen, before his mother, Elizabeth Johnson, either killed the boy or simply gave him away to strangers.

On Wednesday, McQueary said he has grown tired of Smith and her attempts to play the victim.

“It’s nothing new, she’s done it the whole time,“ said McQueary.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Logan McQueary as he re-traces his son's journey to San Antonio and all those who are working so diligently to find this beautiful baby boy.

I am of the mindset that this baby is alive and being hidden somewhere. I'm wondering if he isn't in Mexico, given the close proximity of San Antonio to the border, the news of an "Hispanic male" seen with Elizabeth Johnson in S.A., and the fact that so much coverage, thankfully, is being given to this case nationally.

I'm also saddened and stunned that baby Gabriel's mother still refuses to tell what she knows. Surely she realizes what she has done is illegal and hateful. As more time goes by, the sheer amount of resources, manpower, finances and emotion she is wracking up in this case is a burden to many.

Woman Arrested In Baby Gabriel Case

PHOENIX -- A woman who wanted to adopt a missing Arizona baby who was last seen in San Antonio was arrested Tuesday.

Tammi Smith was arrested at her Scottsdale, Ariz., home on charges of custodial interference, conspiracy to commit custodial interference and forgery.

Tempe police Sgt. Steve Carbajal said Smith was being taken to the department and would be booked later into Maricopa County jail.

Smith and her husband, Jack Smith, have been considered "persons of interest" for weeks in the investigation into the disappearance of 8-month-old Gabriel Johnson of Tempe. Jack Smith did not answer his cell phone, and his voicemail box was full.

Nearly a dozen members of the McQueary family were huddled in a Tempe hotel room Monday. All of them were working laptops, cell phone, printers, and maps tacked to the wall.

The McQuearys are in a desperate search for Gabriel Johnson, Logan McQueary'#s son.

Eight-month-old Gabriel Johnson has been missing since Christmas, after his mother, Elizabeth Johnson, says she took him to Texas. She first said she killed the boy, but later told authorities she gave Gabriel away to strangers in a San Antonio park.

So the McQuearys have set up a war room to help re-trace her path. Logan McQueary will set out for San Antonio Tuesday with his cousins, Lisa and Joe Peters. Lisa just flew in from Egypt to help in any way she could.

Their task is made harder by the fact that Elizabeth Johnson is the only one who knows where she stopped and who she met on the way. And Elizabeth is not talking.

"I wish she would tell Logan the truth, all of us the truth, but we'll find Gabriel without her if that's what we have to do," said Sandy Peters.

New details in the search for Baby Gabriel Johnson have been uncovered by Fox News at Nine. According to an eyewitness Gabriel's mother, Elizabeth Johnson, was in the company of a Hispanic male in his mid to late 20's at least 2 times. The witness also tells us that during one of those meetings a couple in their late 30's was also with them.

If this information is true, this is the most promising news I've read about this case. Maybe she did meet with a couple and gave Gabriel to them. Maybe the Hispanic male helped her find this couple to take Gabriel. I want to believe so badly that Gabriel is still alive and being well taken care of. I wonder who the witness is and how they got to see her on two different occasions. Did she meet these people in a public place, like a restaurant, where this witness may have worked and was there both times to see her? Were there any surveillance cameras that may have caught even a glimpse of these people? I am continuing to pray for Gabriel to be found alive and well and reunited with his family.

World renowned investigator offers to help find baby Gabriel

Police and the FBI have been searching for a 9-month old Tempe baby for more than a month with no luck, and now a world famous investigator is offering his help for free.

Jay J. Armes, otherwise known as "The Investigator," has been finding missing people for 40 years. He was made famous for finding Marlon Brando's son in the 70's.

Armes sometimes charges up to $1 million a case, but for baby Gabriel Johnson, he and his team are offering to do it for free.

"Because of the way it happened and the way the girl started lying from the beginning," Armes told ABC15 on a phone interview from Texas. "At first she had given it to a couple, and then she didn't know who the couple were. The harder the cases are, the more challenging they are to me."

Police in San Antonio, Texas say they are moving "full steam ahead" in the search for Gabriel Johnson. The 8-month old was last seen in San Antonio on December, 26th, "We have some things in the planning stage and will undertake soon in our attempts to find baby Gabriel," said Chief William McManus.

While the owners of a landfill in San Antonio have been contacted police say they have no immediate plans to search the area. As of now they are focused on finding the baby, "If we believe the baby was dead we would open a homicide investigation, now that is not the case," said McManus. Police would not elaborate on what sort of plan they have been working on.

Missing baby's mother pleads not guilty

PHOENIX -- The mother of missing 8-month-old Gabriel Johnson pleaded not guilty Monday to charges related to his disappearance.

Elizabeth Johnson appeared in court by video from the Maricopa County Jail. She was dressed in jail stripes.

Johnson spoke only to give her name and birthdate. A "not guilty" plea was entered for her to charges of kidnapping, child abuse and custodial interference.

The court appearance came one day after dozens of people gatehred at a candlelight vigil in Scottsdale to pray that Gabriel will be found.

SAN ANTONIO -- The search for missing baby Gabriel Johnson continued Monday as authorities searched a San Antonio landfill for his body.

The 8-month-old baby boy was last seen in the Alamo City the day after Christmas.

Dozens attend candlelight vigil for missing Tempe baby

While detectives continue to search for leads in the case of missing 8-month-old Gabriel Johnson, a large group gathered Sunday evening to hold a candlelight vigil to show support for the family.

"I just had to be here, I wake up every morning and check the computer to find out if this little boy has been returned home," said Katrina Bratteli, who drove an hour to Scottsdale to attend the vigil.

Others, like Bratteli, have never met Gabriel Johnson, but felt a connection.

"I think people like me, this case has just gripped them. I have a son the same age as Gabriel and I can't imagine what this family is going through," said Bratteli.

A Facebook page dedicated to Gabriel Johnson, has become an outlet for others like Bratelli to show their support and hold out hope that the baby boy is alive.

I too pray every night for this baby! I hope Elizabeth Johnson is not a monster and did not harm this precious, beautiful baby boy! I am very sad to hear more and more of this story as it develops. I can only hope and pray that someone is loving him and giving him the care and attention he so needs that they have not come forward. I too wish there was something I could do to help!

Mother’s GPS processed in search for missing boy

Tempe detectives have processed a GPS device that may have been used by the mother of a missing 8-month-old boy.

Investigators say the information from the GPS, including its origin, cannot be released.

It has been weeks since baby Gabriel Johnson disappeared while with his mother, Elizabeth, in San Antonio, Texas after leaving Tempe.

Gabriel Johnson was last seen around December 26.

Detectives will not say how many people have been questioned involving the search for the boy, but Jack Smith, who is considered a 'person of interest' in the case told ABC15 a family member outside Arizona has been interviewed.

Arizona Father Pleas For Baby's Return

The father of a missing eight-month-old Arizona baby held an emotional press conference Monday, pleading for the safe return of his son.

While fighting back tears, Logan McQueary said he was worried about Gabriel Johnson after the last known photos of his son, taken in Texas, show the baby holding a bottle of prescription medication and appearing drowsy.

Baby Gabriel Was 'Acting Scared'

Eight-month-old Gabriel Johnson's babysitter, Analisa Urias, one of the last-known people to see the missing baby, said he seemed sad and frightened the night she took care of him.

The baby's mother, Elizabeth Johnson, 23, hired Urias through a Craig's List ad to babysit Gabriel in a Texas hotel room while she was in the midst of a cross-country trip to escape a custody dispute with the boy's biological father.

"Elizabeth told me if anyone came knocking on the door not to answer it," Urias told ABC News.

Police investigate online claim 'Baby Gabriel' was adopted

Police in Arizona are now looking into an online posting from someone claiming to have adopted a child they called "Baby Gabriel."

Gabriel Johnson was last seen in San Antonio December 26th. Investigators said Gabriel's mother, Elizabeth Johnson abducted him from Tempe, Arizona eight days earlier.

The online posting is said to be from a woman from Wisconsin named "Beth" who claims she was here in San Antonio January first to adopt a little boy. Elizabeth Johnson was already in jail in Florida by that time. She claims she gave the boy to a couple she met here at a park. Elizabeth Johnson remains in an Arizona jail on multiple charges.

Elizabeth Johnson Calls Grandfather

Elizabeth Johnson called her grandfather. Bob Johnson. It was the first time they've spoke in nearly a week. The two only spoke for a couple of minutes, talking about items she wanted him to pick up from jail. Johnson asked her grandfather to pick up the $300 she had when she was arrested in Florida, as well as an expensive ring she said she was wearing.

The call came just minutes after Bob told CBS 5 he wasn't sure his great-grandson was still alive.

Baby Gabriel's sitter speaks out

A babysitter who watched Gabriel Johnson the night he and his mother arrived in San Antonio says Elizabeth Johnson seemed detached from her son. 18-year-old Analisa Urias says Johnson contacted her after seeing her babysitter ad on Craigslist and hired her to watch her son on the night of December 21st at the Homegate Studios and Suites on Laureate Drive.

“She was not affectionate towards Gabriel or anything, it did not seem like she really wanted him.” said Urias who says Johnson gave very few instructions to the babysitter before leaving. Urias says there was a sharp knife sitting in the room.

New pictures show baby Gabriel in Texas

Late Friday, Tempe Police released a series of pictures, showing 9-month-old Gabriel Johnson alive in a San Antonio motel. A couple of the photos are date-stamped "December 26th," which is the last day police can confirm Gabriel was alive.

Most of the pictures show Gabriel playing on a bed or crawling around, but others are troubling. In two of the pictures, Gabriel is seen grasping what appears to be a medicine dropper. Tempe Police say they can't confirm what the baby is holding, but a Texas woman who says she babysat Gabriel claims he appeared to be groggy from medicine. Analisa Urias, an 18-year-old from San Antonio, says Gabriel's mother told him to "give him more medicine if he starts to cry."
