UPDATE Mia and Thor are now home in Sweden!
A desperate mother is making a plea for help to bring her little boy Thor Wang home. Mia a young mother from sweden, who has full custody of her son after a difficult divorce is alone in a hotel room while her son is in a near by Orphanage in Guatemala.
On Valentine’s Day Thor's father Andrew Wang, took Thor during a visitation and disappeared. Mia was devastated by Thor’s disappearance and feared for his life she started a desperate search to find him. Friends, family and organizations like “Help Find My Child” have helped where they can but nothing can ease the trauma of your child being abducted. Thor was only 15 months old and still nursing every day when he was taken.
Andrew Wang (also know as Yen-Chen Wang) has had two Emergency Protective Orders against him to shield Mia and Thor. One was issued by the police in April of 2008 and the latest issued 1/19/2009. Wang had repeatedly threatened to kidnap Thor and take him out of the country.
Weeks of distress seemed to be over when this weekend baby Thor Wang and Andrew were located in Guatemala. Elated Thor’s mother Mia packed her bags and flew within hours of hearing the news to see her son, however when she got there, she found a new nightmare had begun.
“I flew to Guatemala and on to Antigua yesterday morning 4/18/2009. I was allowed to see Thor, for 1 hour. Thor and I were denied any food or drink for hours before we could see each other, despite my desperate pleas. Court people wanted to see how Thor reacted to seeing me”
Mia went on to say she was led to a room with Andrew and armed guards who did not speak English, while they watched and determined that Thor did not want to go to her, the meeting was then cut short and Thor instead of being returned to Mia has been placed in an orphanage. Mia informs us that Andrew was released despite Interpol being present with a warrant.
“I had Vice Consul and a U.S. State Dept. official who witnessed but could do nothing before this atrocity. It was the worst violation of human rights I have ever experienced. I was beside myself. Andrew is illegally here with Thor, without any papers proving he's the father. I had U.S. State Dept., Interpol and American Vice Consul Barbara Armstrong with me to court yesterday. My court papers and legal rights to Thor were ignored! “
Mia has been told Thor will remain in the orphanage and she will not be able to visit him until there has been a court hearing.
“I do not know when the court hearing will be and I am deathly afraid Andrew will take Thor and run again I am distraught that I cannot see Thor”
Mia is currently in a hotel in Guatemala scared, distressed and needing help in understanding the language, the laws and support in bringing her only son home. In light of communication we received from Andrew Wang earlier today:
I'd just like to clarify our position having read the allegations on your website, as a volunteer group we help and support parents who are searching for a missing or abducted child and assist where we can. As Thor is listed on the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as a Family Abduction (Case Number: NCMC1116194) and a felony warrant is on file for yourself, we have assisted Mia in raising awareness in her search for Thor.
Now Thor has been found the majority of our work is over, however given it does not benefit Thor to be in an orphanage away from both his parents we have continued to assist in raising awareness following USA legal stance that Thor is an abducted child and Mia has full custody.
