Vehicle sought found in Texas
The red 1999 Kia Sportage was owned by Katia Lainez, 27, who was found dead in her Kansas City apartment. Police did not find the woman’s 3-year-old daughter, Allison Corrales, that day and issued the alert.
Police did not find the girl, but she is reportedly with her father and the two may have been headed to Mexico.
Kansas City police have been looking for the girl’s father, Luis F. Corrales, 31, since the murder. He is considered a “person of interest.” He was barred by a protection order from seeing Lainez, but his car was found at the apartment complex near the Truman Sports Complex.
The Sportage was involved in a traffic accident Sunday in San Antonio. The driver told police that Corrales, a native of Honduras, let him have the car in return for enough money to buy bus tickets for himself and the girl to get to Mexico.
Two Kansas City detectives flew to San Antonio on Monday to speak to the man. Police spokesman Capt. Rich Lockhart said that because it’s been established that the girl is with Corrales, the FBI can be brought into the case because she is an American citizen.

Allyson Corrales on America's Most Wanted
The family waited helplessly for at least a phone call, but when they didn't receive one the next day, the family decided to scope things out for themselves.
On March 5, 2009 Katia's family went to her apartment to see if she was there. Unfortunately, no one answered the front door, and since it was locked, not much else could be done.
Yet another day passed without word from Katia. This time, when the family returned to her apartment, they called the manager to unlock the front door.
Upon entering the apartment, Katia's family discovered her body at 9:22 a.m. Shortly after, police ruled the death a homicide.
While Katia's family mourn her death, they also mourn the disappearance of Katia's daughter, Allyson Corrales.
Initially, law enforcement issued an AMBER Alert, but only for the first 24 hours of Allyson's disappearancee. Allyson is still missing.

Mother Laid to Rest, Child Still Missing
Family and friends said their final farewells to a murdered mother whose child became the center of an amber alert. Katia Lainez was just 27-years-old. She loved her family especially her four-year-old daughter who is still missing.
Her family gathered at the Mount Washington Cemetery with friends and family sharing stories about her life. But, they say it's not just her death that is the hard part. It's the fact that no one knows where her daughter Allyson Corrales is.
The TIPS Hotline has received dozens of calls. But, so far nothing has panned out. Police are also searching for Allyson's biological father, Luis Corrales.
Katia had a restraining order against him and sole custody of her daughter. Family members say they feared he would do something bad to them.

Amber Alert Canceled, but Search for Girl Continues
KANSAS CITY, MO - The Amber Alert for 4-year-old Allyson Corrales has been canceled, but the search for her continues after her mother was found dead inside their home Friday morning.
Late Friday, police said they were looking for Allyson's father, Luis, as a person of interest in the case.
According to police, the Amber Alert was canceled because they say the alert looses its effectiveness after 24 hours.
Police are calling the scene a possible homicide at 4023 Harvard Circle after the 27-year-old female was found dead inside the home by the woman's brother-in-law and Allyson was found missing.
The woman's brother-in-law said he hadn't heard from her in a couple of days so he went to check in on her Friday morning. The apartment manager let him in, and that's when police say they were called to investigate her murder.
